Lead (Applied Monitoring and Education)

Matt Raven is a professor in the Department of Community Sustainability at Michigan State University and leads the Applied Monitoring and Education module in the 3M project. The Applied Monitoring and Education module conducts on-farm monitoring using the Ecological Outcomes Verification (EOV) protocol, as well as providing educational support to producers. His research interests include the diffusion and adoption of innovations in agriculture and community food systems, and the connection between healthy soils, healthy food, healthy people and healthy communities, with an emphasis on the utilization of grazing livestock to improve our soils.

Dr. Raven is also a faculty coordinator of the Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center (UPREC) located in Chatham, Michigan, with responsibilities in community food systems. He is a certified Master Field Professional as well as an Ecological Outcomes Verification (EOV) Master Verifier by the Savory Institute.
