Backyard Farming: Container Gardening
Noble's recent Backyard Farming Seminar included a lesson on container gardening taught by producer Leon Sloan. Leon discussed his container construction technique and fertilization routine. He also explained how he grows through freezing temperatures without gas or electric heat.
Leon Sloan, owner of Leon's Greenhouses in Kingston, Oklahoma, shares his secrets for growing food in plastic containers. His system reduces watering frequency while also protecting the plant's roots from drowning. Sloan also describes his fertilization routine and how he uses hoophouses and layers of plastic film to keep plants alive during subfreezing temperatures. The presentation was made in Ardmore, Oklahoma, at the Noble Research Institute's Backyard Farming Seminar on Sept. 21, 2017.
