Operation YUM!

By Amanda Mathias, 2013 Lloyd Noble Scholar in Agriculture

So one of the tasks we have taken upon ourselves as Summer Scholars is to try out the local fare. One weekend we made the short trip north from Ardmore, Okla., to small town named Davis for barbeque at Smokin' Joe's Rib Ranch. Not only was it good, it was melt-in-your-mouth good. Hence the picture of me chowing down on a rib while everyone else is just getting their food.

hope and amanda enjoy the meal

We were all full as ticks on a dog when we left, but before we jumped back on the interstate to head south, we also stopped for some famous fried pies at Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies. So to anyone who might be traveling through the area or future Summer Scholars, make the trip to Davis! I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
