Description: Infrequently found in our region on sandy clay soils in undisturbed sites. Male and female plants grow separately. Female florets have hairs resembling cobwebs and male florets appear smooth. Also reproduces by rhizomes. It is of fair value to some wildlife species and provides good forage for cattle on native range during the cool season. It is eliminated by heavy grazing.
