Feral Hog Control - Toxicants
Toxicants have not been used in the U.S. and there are none registered for use on feral hogs. Although studies have shown the use of toxicants is considerably cheaper than other control methods in terms of cost per pig removed, research costs are a deterrent to developing a toxicant for registration in the U.S. Other problems with using a toxicant is nontarget species contamination through direct consumption of the bait or ingestion of infected meat and lower priority of hog control relative to other species.
