Common names: lanceleaf ragweed, southern ragweed, ragweed Scientific names: Ambrosia bidentata Seasons of significant use: spring, summer (for Ambrosia spp. complex) Characteristics: Native, annual, warm season forb to 3.5 feet (mostly less than 2.5 feet in our area). Stems erect; leaves mostly alternate, simple, sessile, with a broad basal tooth on each side (with the appearance of an arrowhead); plant monoecious; staminate flowers in dense spicate aggregations; pistillate flowers nearly hidden in leaf axils that subtend the male inflorescences.
