Description:
A common grass throughout our region and adapted to most soil types. It is often used as a forage grass in winter pasture plantings and seeded in Bermudagrass pastures. The inflorescence has a zig-zag appearance and the spikelets are positioned edgewise to the main stem. It provides fair forage for some wildlife species and good forage for cattle in the spring.
