Description:
A small tree with a dense irregular crown. May form thickets and can be invasive on rangeland and pastureland. Usually one of the first woody species to appear on cleared land or abused pastures. Fruits mature orange in the fall, often remaining attached into winter, and are relished by many birds and mammals. The ripe fruits can also be consumed by humans, fresh or in cookies and breads.
