Description:
A deep rooted legume found in dry soils on prairies and savannahs. Reproduces from seeds and can spread laterally from roots. Stems do not have prickles. Highly preferred by livestock and is a good browse for white-tailed deer. Not found in overgrazed areas. Although similar in appearance to Illinois bundleflower, Desmanthus illinoensis, the fruit and leaf structures are different.
