Description:
A much branched shrub or tree scattered on dry rocky hillsides in the southwest portion of our region. The fruit, black at maturity, is smaller than that of common persimmon and is eaten by many species of birds and mammals. The black juice of the fruits was once used as a dye for leather or buckskin.
