Description: As the name implies, this grass is most frequently found growing on sandy sites. The inflorescence is usually 35 - 55 cm tall, often half the size of the entire plant, and there is a ring of hairs at the base of the leaf blade. It is of little value to wildlife and provides fair forage for cattle.
