Description:
A bushy, moderately high-climbing vine found on rich, moist soil of forest understory and openings. Fruit matures shiny black, is peppery tasting and not edible. The fruit is reportedly eaten by raccoon and the leaves may be browsed by white-tailed deer in some locales where preferred forage is scarce. The Latin name
arborea
refers to its habit of climbing trees.
