Description: Most frequently found on moist, shaded soils in the eastern part of our region. Its spikelets are closely appressed to the branches of the inflorescence and the leaf sheaths are keeled. Derived its common name because the spikelets resemble the curved beak of a bird. It provides cover and seed to some wildlife species and good grazing for cattle.
