Description: A large tree occurring along streams, rivers and flood plains throughout our region. One of the first woody species to appear on flood damaged sites. Can be established from cuttings. Often preferred as a roost tree by wild turkey, especially along streams in the western edge of our region, westward. Under good conditions, cottonwoods can grow up to 1.5 m in height per year. They are relatively short-lived.
