Sam Noble Scholarship Deadline Approaching

ARDMORE, Okla. — Completed applications for the Noble Foundation’s Sam Noble Scholarships in Agriculture and Technology must be received by the Foundation on or before Feb. 13..

"Unlike most scholarships, both graduating high school seniors and current college students are eligible to apply," said Mary Kate Heltzel, the Noble Foundation's granting program associate. "This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students to be rewarded for their academic success."

To apply, students must be planning to attend, or attending, a qualifying university or technology training institution during the 2004–2005 school term, and must reside in one of the following Oklahoma counties: Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Choctaw, Coal, Garvin, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, McCurtain, Murray, Pontotoc, Pushmataha or Stephens.

Agriculture undergraduate scholarships are $2,000 per semester for up to nine semesters; graduate scholarships are $2,500 per semester for up to five semesters. Applicants must plan to pursue a degree in an agriculture-related field at a university awarding baccalaureate or higher agriculture degrees through a College or Division of Agriculture. Examples of qualifying institutions include Oklahoma State University (Stillwater), Oklahoma Panhandle State University (Goodwell), Texas Tech University (Lubbock), and Texas A&M University (College Station).

Technology scholarships are awarded for up to $1,500 per semester, up to six semesters. Applicants must plan to pursue an associate degree or technical certificate at Oklahoma State University in either Oklahoma City or Okmulgee.

"To date, we have awarded more than 50 scholarships totaling $610,000," Heltzel said. "I would encourage all students planning to major in agriculture or those planning to attend OSU-Okmulgee or OSU-OKC to contact us today for an application."
