Boehlje to Shed Light on Changing Agriculture, Food Industries ARDMORE — Change has been the watchword of the U.S. agriculture industry during the last few decades, and the pace of that change is increasing. Food producers and consumers alike are affected by shifts in technologies, demand and government policies, among others — and the issues often are complex. Dr. Michael Boehlje, a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University, will address today's multi-faceted agriculture industry as the next Profiles and Perspectives speaker of the 2002 2003 series. Boehlje's presentation, "The Future of YOUR Food Supply in a Changing World," expands on five fundamental forces affecting agriculture and food supplies: expanded global production, growing and diversified global demand, new technology, changes in competitive metrics and returns to contributed resources, and government policy. "We are living in a time of constant change," said Mary Kate Heltzel, chair of the Foundation's Profiles and Perspectives Committee. "Dr. Boehlje's experience in the areas of agricultural finance, management and strategic planning gives him a unique perspective on the changes the agriculture and related food industry is making to address the needs of the progressive world we live in today." The program will be on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Plainview High School Auditorium located at 1140 S. Plainview Road in Ardmore. All Profiles programs are free and open to the public.
