As a woman on the front lines of some of the F.B.I's most memorable cases, former agent Candice DeLong has tailed terrorists and gone undercover as a gangster's moll. Called a "real-life Clarice Starling" and a "female Donnie Brasco," DeLong will come to Ardmore as the opener of the 2006-2007 season of the Noble Foundation's Profiles and Perspectives community enrichment series. Until her retirement in 2000, DeLong was the head field profiler in San Francisco for the F.B.I. She served as the liaison to the agency's famous Behavioral Science Unit at Quantico. Some of her high-profile cases include the Unabomber manhunt and the Tylenol murder case investigation. Her presentation, which will reveal the dangers and rewards of being a woman on the front lines of one of the world's most powerful law enforcement agencies, is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Ardmore Convention Center. It is entitled "Special Agent: My Life on the Front Lines as a Woman in the F.B.I." During the program, DeLong will give the audience a "day in the life" glimpse of her work as a field profiler, one of the most fascinating and challenging branches of the F.B.I. She traces the unusual career path that led her to crime fighting and recounts the obstacles she faced as a woman and a young agent. DeLong's experiences have inspired a new series on Lifetime called "What Should You Do?" The show chronicles women who have survived harrowing situations and provides insider tips on handling dangerous dilemmas. "Candice DeLong is an engaging speaker with many exciting and colorful stories to share. We hope you will plan to join us to learn more about her impressive F.B.I. career," said Mary Kate Wilson, Noble Foundation granting program officer and chair of the Profiles and Perspectives Committee. All Profiles and Perspectives programs are free and open to the public. For more information, call the Noble Foundation at (580) 223-5810 or visit www.noble.org/profiles. ###
