Cowboy Poet to Close 2004-2005 Profiles Series |

Renowned cowboy poet, former large animal veterinarian and "sorry team roper"
Baxter Black will return to Ardmore on April 21 to conclude the Noble Foundation's
2004-2005 Profiles and Perspectives community enrichment series. Black,
who was raised in New Mexico, spent his working life in the mountain West tormenting
cows; he now lives in Arizona and travels the country tormenting cowboys. His
humorous program will focus on the day-to-day ups and downs of people who live
with livestock and work the land. The event, which is free and open to the public,
is set for 7 p.m. at the Goddard Center, located at 401 1st Street, S.W. in Ardmore.
"Whether you grew up on the farm or are new to the southern Oklahoma area, Baxter Black's cowboy humor is guaranteed to be entertaining and enlightening," said Mary Kate Heltzel, chair of the Profiles and Perspectives Committee. Black is the best-selling cowboy poet in the world. He's written several books, recorded more than a dozen audio and videotapes and achieved notoriety as a syndicated columnist and radio commentator. From the "Tonight Show" and PBS to NPR and the NFR, Black's verse has been seen and heard by millions. Black's program concludes the 2004-2005 Profiles season. The lineup
