Futurist Next Speaker in Profiles and Perspectives Series

ARDMORE — The Noble Foundation's Profiles and Perspectives series continues on Thursday, Feb. 26, with a presentation by futurist Dr. Lowell Catlett. The event, which is free and open to the public, starts at 7 p.m. at the Charles B. Goddard Center in Ardmore.

Catlett, who is a Regent's Professor at New Mexico State University, works nationally and internationally with corporations and organizations doing futuristic planning about the impacts of technology on careers, lifestyles and the economy. He also works with the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Labor, Interior, Defense, Education, Energy and the World Bank. Catlett is the author of numerous books and articles.

"Economics, demographics and technology are all converging such that the next 10 years will be unlike any in human history," Catlett said. "'Five Trends' are changing society and providing more opportunities than ever before."

Not only will society never be the same again, Catlett added, but neither will the agricultural and food industries.

"For those willing to rise to the challenge of the 'Five Trends', the rewards will be boundless," he said.

"Dr. Catlett has a unique grasp of evolving technologies and their implications on how we will work and live in the future," said Mary Kate Heltzel, chair of the Profiles and Perspectives Committee. "The Noble Foundation is pleased to bring such a well-respected individual to Ardmore to share his vast knowledge of today's trends on our constantly changing society."

Closing out the 2003-2004 Profiles and Perspectives series on March 25 will be Dr. Greg Walton, who survived a devastating oil field fire that resulted in severe burns to more than 75 percent of his body. A determined, outgoing individual, Walton went on to develop the courage to live a full and successful life as a general surgeon in Enid, Okla., and the father of four children.
