Allen to Kick Off Public Lectures in Science Series

ARDMORE, Okla. — The second season of the Noble Foundation's Public Lectures in Science series will begin on Thursday, Oct. 30 with a lecture on the mountain systems of Oklahoma and the geology of the Arbuckle Mountains and the Ardmore Basin by Robert "Bob" Allen.

Allen, a native Oklahoman, is a professional geologist with more than 50 years of geological experience. He lives and works in Ardmore and has studied the local geology since 1954.

Allen's lecture will include a slide presentation and rock samples. An 18-page handout called "Stratigraphy, Mountain Building and Complex Geological Structures of the Ardmore Basin" will also be available.

The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in the Kruse Auditorium of the Noble Foundation, located at 2510 Sam Noble Parkway, and will be followed by a reception.
