Gilliland Brings Motivation Techniques

ARDMORE - Ever been placed in a leadership position, only to find your "charges" not quite as inspired or organized as hoped? Do you feel your attitude on work and life might need a little positive adjusting?

A motivational speaker known worldwide for training, developing and improving people will bring a free program to the public, teaching how to lead through an inspirational seminar Thursday evening, Feb. 3.

Steve Gilliland, founder and president of Performance Plus, has traveled the globe bringing his message to employees, employers and the public - a message of motivation, sales, teamwork and leadership. He is being brought to Ardmore as the latest in the Noble Foundation-sponsored Profiles and Perspectives presentation series.

Gilliland helps groups become more productive by maximizing the performance of their people.

His program at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 in the Southern Oklahoma Technology Center, 2610 Sam Noble Parkway, is titled From the Heart and deals with leadership issues. It is open to the public.

Gilland says leadership "… is a skill that can be learned."

In this 1 1/2-hour seminar, participants will "discover the principles, values and techniques required to influence behavior, increase performance, and take people where they have never been."

During his two-day stay in Ardmore, Gilliland also will present workshops to local business employees, including those at the hosting Noble Foundation, SOTC, BancFirst, Southwestern Bell, and The Daily Ardmoreite. Earlier Thursday, he will present two programs to area students.

This highly-rated motivational speaker joins a variety of experts and specialists brought to Ardmore through the Noble Foundation's Profiles and Perspectives program. Past Profiles speakers have included a solar-car engineer, an artist, a biomedical scientist, a foreign policy expert, the former head of NASA's Mars exploration program, and two politicos who host an Oklahoma City TV talk show.

The presenters are brought to Ardmore to allow Southern Oklahomans a chance to hear and see nationally and globally known experts who might not normally visit a smaller city.

"Mr. Gilliland's expertise in training and motivation is widely respected. We're very fortunate to have him here to share his expertise with the sponsoring businesses, local students, and especially with the general public at the Thursday evening program. We want to make sure everyone interested in the program has the opportunity to attend," said Joe Lobell, NF Communications Department manager.
