Free Noble Foundation Agricultural Division Event is Open to the Public
Once rain returns to Oklahoma and North Texas, prescribed burning can again
serve as a valuable tool for land management. However, many landowners who are
interested in prescribed burning as a management tool need more information
about the proper way to plan and conduct burns.
The most important issues involved in using prescribed burns to achieve forage
management and wildlife habitat goals will be covered at the Noble Foundation
Agricultural Division's prescribed burning seminar on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The free public event will be held at the Southern Oklahoma Technology Center
at 2610 Sam Noble Parkway in Ardmore. Event check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. and
the seminar will conclude shortly after 5 p.m. Attendees should pre-register.
Noble Foundation wildlife and forage specialists will discuss these topics
during the seminar:
- legal and liability considerations for a burn,
- equipment used in controlled burns,
- techniques for managing fire,
- environmental considerations for prescribed fire,
- grazing management and prescribed burning,
- prescribed burning plan, and
- burn planning exercise.
Handout materials will be available. This is a no-cost seminar and open to
the public.
For more information or to pre-register, call Melissa Castleman at (580) 224-6411.
