Raised Bed Gardening Seminar Set for Feb. 9
ARDMORE, Okla. The Noble Foundation's Agricultural Division will be
hosting a Raised Bed Gardening Seminar on Monday, Feb. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. in
the Kruse Auditorium on the Foundation's Ardmore campus. The seminar is free
and open to the public.
| Steve Upson, a Foundation horticulture specialist, will be the evening's
presenter. The topics Upson will cover include: |
- Site preparation,
- Permanent bed material selection,
- Construction tips,
- Bed preparation,
- Irrigation system design and installation,
- Planting techniques,
- Plant management,
- Pest management,
- Season extension techniques.

"We're going to spend time on different types and styles of beds,"
Upson said. "We've recently developed a 14-inch-high bed that's good for
folks with dexterity problems or physical limitations. It's moderately priced
and the best design we've come up with using locally available materials."
Upson will have some new raised bed gardening gadgets on display during the
seminar.
"There will be lots of 'show and tell' for the serious gardener,"
he added.
