Public Sale of Noble Line Bulls March
20
Cattle producers will
receive the first public chance to buy increasingly popular Noble
Line composite bulls and heifers at Red River Livestock Auction on
March 20.
Noble Line cattle, developed at
the Noble Foundation to be optimal for cattle production
environments in Southern Oklahoma and North Texas, are composed of
Gelbvieh, Angus and Brahman ancestry.
"We have incorporated proven
techniques and cutting edge technologies in the production of
these cattle," said John Winder, a livestock specialist with the
Noble Foundation. "Composites are unique in that they maintain
hybrid vigor when mated like straightbred cattle.
"This makes them ideal for
producers who don't have or want multiple breeding
groups."
The bulls have completed a 112-day
gain test, as well as passed a comprehensive breeding soundness
examination.
The approximately 40 bulls and 20 yearling heifers
will be available for viewing from 8 to 11 a.m. at the auction in Overbrook.
A seminar on composite breeding and the Noble Line is slated for 11 a.m., followed
by a lunch at noon provided by the Foundation. The sale begins at 1 p.m.
The Noble Line bull test results
can be viewed by contacting Winder for reports, or by checking out
the Ag Division's web page at www.noble.org/ag.
