Note: This event occurred in 1999. Pecan Producers' Program Slated in Ardmore ARDMORE Pecan producers interested in the newest methods of pest and insect management and other concerns of pecan production in the area are encouraged to attend the Southern Oklahoma Pecan Management Seminar at 7:15 p.m. April 8. The seminar, hosted by the Noble Foundation at the NF Pavilion, also features the latest information on native and variety pecan management, pecan nutrition, and orchard floor management. Presenters include some of the best-known pecan specialists in Oklahoma Scott Landgraf, soil and pecans specialist with the Noble Foundation, and Dean McCraw and Phil Mulder, both with Oklahoma State University. Landgraf encourages all pecan producers from central Oklahoma to north Texas to attend the seminar. "This meeting is a response to area producers' requests for an update on pecan management," Landgraf said. "We have planned a program to cover most aspects of pecan production with time for any specific questions." Rohm and Haas Chemical Company will provide a meal for attendees at 6:30 p.m. preceding the program. To reserve a meal ticket and/or place at the seminar or for additional information about the program, call Melissa Castleman at the Foundation at (580) 221-7275. There is no cost for the meal or program. The Noble Foundation Pavilion is located on Sam Noble Parkway east of Ardmore, formerly state Highway 199, on the north side of the street. |
