ARDMORE, Okla. — Seventeen high school students from southern Oklahoma and northern Texas have been selected to participate in AgVenture 2003, the Noble Foundation's annual educational program for students with a strong interest in the agricultural industry.

The students chosen from Oklahoma are: Dawn Schantz, Wynnewood; Scott Thornton, Duncan; Brendon Lowe, Chickasha; Garrett Clark, Roff; Ryan Tidwell, Roff; Clay Turney, Comanche; Lindsey Pritchard; McLoud; Staci Forshee, Ratliff City; Brandon Gryder, Weleetka.

Selected Texas students are: Emily Harris, Henrietta; Lacey McGill, Princeton; Brittany Causey, Princeton; Ryan King, Alvord; Cody Hubbard, Decatur; Amber Koontz, Decatur; Megan Shorter, Mansfield; Cody Carson, Haslet.

"AgVenture is an exciting event because we get to interact with bright young people who are interested in agriculture," said Shan Ingram, education and special projects manager in the Foundation's Agriculture Division and AgVenture 2003 coordinator.

The four-day program begins on June 3 at the Foundation's campus in Ardmore, and will include visits to all five of the Foundation's research and demonstration farms as well as trips to agricultural businesses. The students will interact with Foundation agricultural specialists, Oklahoma State University personnel and other ag industry professionals while they learn about pond management, native range management, wildlife, prescribed burning and cattle handling.
