Twenty-two high school students from southern Oklahoma and North Texas have been
selected to participate in AgVenture 2005, the Noble Foundation's educational
program for students with a strong interest in the agricultural industry.
The students chosen from Oklahoma are: Colin Lowe, Chickasha; Justin McGee,
Ardmore; Julie Stenho, Noble; Rayne Austin, Ringling; Payton Mumford, Fox; Kody
Schenk, Chickasha; Wade Thompson, Thackerville; Jeffery Voyles, Thackerville;
Tim Fitzpatrick, Rush Springs; Jeffrey Wynne, Weleetka and Clayton Sherrill,
Waurika.
Selected Texas students are: Rachel Newman, Roxton; Riley Garrison, Bellevue;
Gretchen Ettredge, Pilot Point; Casey Stanford, Henrietta; Justin Campbell,
Henrietta; Tyler Raley, Chico; Randy Unger, Cresson; Jaclyn Hollingsworth, Sanger;
Mitchell Bradford, Decatur; Ellaree Lehman, Farmers Branch and Cody Douglas,
Trenton.
"The participants for this year's AgVenture are an impressive group. We
really look forward to their visit," said Shan Ingram, education and special
projects manager in the Foundation's Agricultural Division and AgVenture 2005
coordinator. "AgVenture is always enjoyable because they inspire and motivate
us, and we are able to enlighten and help them as well."
The four-day program begins on June 7 at the Foundation's campus in Ardmore,
and will include visits to several of the Foundation's research and demonstration
farms as well as trips to agricultural businesses. The students will interact
with Foundation agricultural specialists, Oklahoma State University personnel
and other ag industry professionals while they learn about pond management,
native range management, wildlife, prescribed burning and cattle handling.
