ARDMORE, Okla. — The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation's Agricultural Division will host two white-tailed deer management workshops, the first on Thursday, Sept. 16, and the second on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The workshops, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., are open to the public and offer attendees insight into deer management practices. The Sept. 16 workshop will take place at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla. The second workshop, scheduled for Sept. 21, will be held at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Okla.

During the workshops, consultants and researchers from the Noble Foundation will discuss topics such as deer biology (including facts, myths and misconceptions), habitat, food habits, population management, antler development, health factors and management associations. The workshops will also include a plant walk focusing on deer food plant identification.

"These are hands-on workshops designed to address many aspects of deer biology and management," said Steven Smith, Noble Foundation wildlife and fisheries consultant. "We cover several major topics and provide a wealth of information for both novices and experienced managers."

The fee for each workshop is $20, which includes lunch, and space is limited to the first 50 registrants. Participants of the McAlester workshop must preregister. To register for a workshop or for more information, contact Tracy Cumbie at 580.224.6411 or by e-mail at tlcumbie@noble.org, or visit www.noble.org/agevents.
