ARDMORE, Okla. — The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation's Agricultural Division will host a Cattle Management Seminar from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Foundation’s Kruse Auditorium.

Noble Foundation livestock consultants will discuss topics necessary for preparing livestock for the winter months, including fall cow management, assessing forage needs for the winter, calf weaning and pre-conditioning, winter supplementation strategies and adding value to cull cows.

Additionally, R. J. Woodbridge, DVM, a veterinarian with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, will discuss the new laws and regulations associated with trichomoniasis. Woodbridge will detail how to determine which animals need to be tested before buying, selling and transporting within Oklahoma and across state lines.

"This seminar is designed to get producers thinking about what steps they need to take as we prepare for the winter season," said Deke Alkire, Ph.D., livestock consultant. "What producers do or don’t do this fall will affect next year’s calving success, conception rates and weaning weights. Our goal at the Noble Foundation is to continue to help producers be profitable while using best management practices."

The Cattle Management Seminar is free and open to the public. Preregistration is appreciated. For additional information or to register, call Tracy Cumbie at 580.224.6411 or register online at www.noble.org/agevents.
