The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Inc.   Field day examines benefits of new tall fescue for farmers
 

The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, along with the Texas Cooperative Extension, will host a Tall Fescue Field Day at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the Joe Foust farm, located north of Enloe, Texas, on FM 2949.

The field day will include a tour of a 3-year-old, 90-plus acre stand of Jesup MaxQ tall fescue, an advanced line of tall fescue being developed by the Noble Foundation, as well as presentations on how tall fescue fits into a grazing system, establishment and fertility requirements, weed control issues, grazing management practices and a demonstration study of the new fescue.

Information also will be provided on the importance of a novel tall fescue endophyte and its relationship to plant persistence and animal performance. Speakers for the field day include Andy Hopkins, Ph.D., Associate Professor and forage grass breeder for the Noble Foundation; James Rogers, Ph.D., Pasture and Range Specialist for the Noble Foundation; and Mike Berry, Delta County Extension Agent with Texas A&M Cooperative Extension.
