Ph.D., Protein Crystallography, 1993, Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China

Using crystallography as the main experimental technique, the structural biology laboratory is studying enzymes and other biologically important plant proteins involved in natural product biosynthesis and other biological processes. By determining the three-dimensional structures of proteins and protein-ligand complexes, researchers are able to reveal the structural basis of protein function, the detailed interactions between proteins and their binding partners and the mechanisms of their actions. Wang's lab joins the effort in Medicago truncatula functional genomics by collaborating with colleagues at the Noble Foundation to study the proteins from M. truncatula.
