  January 26 Elison Blancaflor presented a seminar to the Biology Department, Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City, OK.
  February 7 Feb Pierre Broun, University of York, visited the Plant Biology Division for research discussions.
  February 10-11 Rick Dixon attended the Scientific Advisory Board meeting, Chromatin Inc, Chicago, IL.
  February 15-16 The Consortium for Alfalfa Improvement, consisting of scientists from The Noble Plant Biology and Forage Improvement Divisions, the US Dairy and Forage Research Center (Madison, WI) and Forage Genetics International (W. Lafayette, Wisconsin), held its be-annual meeting at the Noble Foundation.
  February 16 Patrick Zhao hosted a GeneSpring analysis training session, Kruse Auditorium.
  February 19 Lloyd Sumner presented an invited seminar, Metabolomics: A tool for gene discovery, hypothesis building, and mechanistic understanding, University of Kentucky, Lexington.
  February 21-22 Rick Nelson was an invited speaker at the New dimensions of RNA in Cellular Functions, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan.
  March 3 Lloyd Sumner participated in a Review Panel RFA-ES-04-008: Metabolomics: Application to Environmental Health Research, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
  March 10-11 Rick Dixon, Lloyd Sumner, Patrick Zhao, Greg May, Zhentian Lei and Mohamed Farag visited the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, Blacksburg, VA, for research discussions concerning the joint VBI/Noble/NSF Plant Genome Grant.
  March 15-17 Rick Dixon was an invited speaker at the Plant Metabolomics session of the American Chemical Society Annual Meeting, San Diego, CA. He also be visited with Drs. Joe Noel, Salk Institute, and Sekhar Bodduppali, Galileo Pharmaceuticals Inc, concerning collaborative research projects in plant natural products.
  March 23-24 Rick Dixon presented the Loomis Lecture, and a separate talk, in the endowed talk/mini-symposium series at Iowa State University held in the memory of Plant Physiologist, Walter E. Loomis.
  March 29-31 Rick Dixon presented an invited talk on isoflavonoid phytoestrogens at an international meeting on Natural Preservatives in Foods, Princeton, NJ.
  April 1 Lahoucine Achnine presented an invited seminar at East Tennessee State University, Johnston City, TN.
  April 1-3 Rick Nelson organized the Noble Virology Mini-retreat, Noble Conference Center and Kruse Auditorium. The invited speakers were Drs. Michael Milgroom, Martin Dickman, Masayuki Ishikawa, Yuichiro Watanable, Biao Ding and Vicki Bowman Vance.
  April 5 Rick Nelson presented an invited seminar at the University of Washington, St. Louis.
  April 5-8 Million Tadege gave an oral presentation at the 2nd Australian Model Legume Workshop, Rottnest Island Perth, Western Australia.
  April 5-19 Li Tian attended the Protein Purification & Characterization Course, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Cold Spring Harbor, NY.
  April 20-23 Lahoucine Achnine attended and presented at the Terpnet 2005 Conference, Wageningen, The Netherlands.
  April 21 Lloyd Sumner provided an invited presentation on Medicago truncatula proteomics as part of a Proteomics Workshop and Symposium (http://www.danforthcenter.org/symposia/proteomics/) hosted by the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and sponsored by NSF Plant Genome.
  April 25-30 Kiran Mysore was an invited speaker at the World DNA & Genome Day Conference, Dalian, China.

Lloyd Sumner hosted Dr. Tim Smith, SOSU, and his Instrumental analysis class from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. This included a lecture on biological mass spectrometry, tour and demonstrations of mass spectrometry based instrumentation at the Noble Foundation.

  April 26-27 Rick Dixon visited the Noble Laboratory, University of York, for research discussions.
  April 27-30 Greg May and Ping Xu attended and presented at the Genomics & Beyond: Frontiers in Plant Biology - Plant Biochemistry Symposium, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO.

Rick Nelson and Xinshun Ding visited their collaborators, Drs. Il-Ryong Choi and Hei Leung, at the International Rice Institute at Los Banos. The collaboration is funded by USAID and involves the optimization of a functional genomics system using a virus that infects rice. Rick Nelson also presented an invited seminar while in Los Banos, Phillippines.

  May 25-June 15 Marilyn Roossinck worked in the research lab in Costa Rica.
  June 2-5 Hongliang Wang attended the Meristems 2005 Conference, Ames, Iowa.
  June 5-9 Rick Dixon was an invited speaker at the International Model Legume Conference, Asilomar, CA. Greg May, Rujin Chen, Patrick Zhao and Hongliang Wang attended.
  June 5-9 Lloyd Sumner gave an oral presentation at the Metabolomics session of the 53rd ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry, San Antonio, TX. David Huhman and Zhentian Lei attended.

  June 12-14 Rick Nelson and Xinshun Ding attended the Rice Coordinated Agricultural Project Meeting (USDA funded research) in Little Rock, AR.

  August 15 -26 The Mysore Lab conducted a large scale Medicago truncatula mutant screening at the Foundation. Several people from different universities and countries participated in this workshop.
