Research emphasis: plant molecular biology and genetics

In fall 2002, Chen and his researchers initiated a research program focusing on understanding molecular mechanisms of polar auxin transport, a unique pathway in plants that plays a regulatory role in diverse growth and developmental processes. Their program also includes developing genetic resources/tools in the model legume Medicago truncatula for understanding the role of polar auxin transport in legume root/leaf development.
