Legume Breeding Lab: Research

Ongoing projects:
• Development of a rapid, high-throughput screening method for aluminum tolerance in alfalfa.

• Identification and mapping sources of aluminum tolerance in alfalfa.

• Detection of yield QTL in alfalfa under irrigated and drought-stress conditions.

• Establishing a high throughput platform for forage legume species genotyping.

• Evaluation of genetic diversity, population structure and identification of a Medicago truncatula core collection using SSR markers.

• Mapping QTLs for stress tolerance (grazing, winter, drought), forage quality, morphological, reproductive and ornamental traits in white clover.

• Identification and molecular mapping of forage quality traits and disease resistance in forage legume species.
