| Lloyd Noble was a successful oil and gas driller and producer.
In 1945, Mr. Noble created and provided the initial endowment dedicated
to scientifuc, educational and humanitarian purposes. The foundation was
named for his father, Samuel Roberts Noble, a pioneer merchant from whom
Noble had learned the value of charity. The Foundation, from its early early
days, sought the betterment of agriculture through research in soil convervation
and improvement. |

| Today, the Foundation pursues Mr. Noble's vision through the
activities of its three operating divisions. |
- The Agricultural Division helps regional
agricultural producers achieve their financial, production and quality-of-life
goals through consultation, education, research and demonstration.
- The Plant Biology Division
conducts basic biochemical, genetic and genomic research for crop improvement,
enhancement of human and animal health and production of novel products
in crops.
- The Forage Improvement Division
develops new forage varieties for farmers and ranchers by integrating
applied plant breeding and molecular biology and genomics, focusing
on the development of perennial grasses and legumes for use in the southern
Great Plains and beyond.
