Lloyd Noble was a successful oil and gas driller and producer. In 1945, Mr. Noble created and provided the initial endowment dedicated to scientifuc, educational and humanitarian purposes. The foundation was named for his father, Samuel Roberts Noble, a pioneer merchant from whom Noble had learned the value of charity. The Foundation, from its early early days, sought the betterment of agriculture through research in soil convervation and improvement.
