Basic AG is an educational program to benefit those new to agriculture. The series provides practical, foundational knowledge that can be used in your day-to-day operations. Basic AG events offer straightforward information and interactive experiences to give participants understanding and new tools to achieve their specific agriculture-related goals.
Type of Noble Foundation agricultural education events:
Seminars - Indoor, seated educational event focused on a specific or narrow range of topics (e.g., estate planning, tax planning). The event offers interactive opportunities through limited discussion and questions. Typical duration: 2-4 hours.
Workshop - Indoor, seated and/or outdoor educational event presenting a variety of related topics concerning a single subject area (e.g., pond management, deer management). The event usually includes hands-on activities and the opportunity for informal interactions and discussions. Typical duration: 4-8 hours.
Field Day - Primarily outdoor educational event presenting a variety of topics related to production agriculture as well as practical demonstrations. The event allows participants to see production practices and includes the opportunity for informal interactions and discussions. Typical duration: 6-8 hours.
School - A multi-day indoor, seated and/or outdoor educational event (or, a multi-day workshop) presenting detailed information on a variety of related topics in a subject area (e.g., grazing management, cattle management) as well as practical demonstrations. The event often includes hands-on activities and the opportunity for informal interactions and discussions. Typical duration: 2 or more days.
Conference/symposium - Indoor, seated educational event presenting a variety of related topics concerning a subject area (e.g., beef production, pasture management). The event regularly includes speaker-experts from multiple regional and/or national organizations. The event offers interactive opportunities through limited discussion and questions. Typical duration: 6-8 hours.
