Dr. Rohla's research efforts focus on improving production horticulture practices, primarily pecan orchard development, Horticulture in general and pecan production specifically is a rapidly growing agricultural industry in Oklahoma and Texas. Therefore, Dr. Rohla focuses considerable research energy into the development of Best Management Practices (BMP's) for the incorporation of horticultural crops into existing farm and ranch operations, increasing farm diversification and economic sustainability. In order to provide these BMP's, Dr. Rohla focuses his research efforts into (1) establishment, (2) water management, and (3) nutrient management.
