Agriculture has changed dramatically since Lloyd Noble created the foundation in the late 1940's. The client base of the Agriculture Division has a broad spectrum of interests. On one end of the spectrum, there are producers that generate all if their income from their "ag" interests. On the other end, is the land owner (often times non-resident) that is primarily interested in quality of life issues. Many of these people share a common interest in the wildlife resources that inhabit their land.
Of the wildlife species found in our service area, white-tailed deer generate the most interest relative to terrestrial wildlife species. White-tailed deer are the number one big game animal in Oklahoma and Texas. Deer related activities have significant environmental and economic impacts. Better understanding deer biology, behavior, requirements, management etc., is essential to improved deer resources management. To that end, much of Mr. Gee's research is white-tailed related. Mr. Gee program is targeted to filling the void in scientific knowledge regarding white-tailed deer habitats in the Cross Timber and Prairies ecoregion of Oklahoma and Texas.
