Seasons of significant use: winter (for Dichanthelium spp. complex)

Characteristics: Native, perennial, cool season grass with culms to 1.5 feet. Forms winter rosettes. Culms branching mostly from base, glabrous on internodes below inflorescence; nodes bearded with soft spreading hairs; leaf blades soft, yellowish-green, to 0.5 inch broad and 8.0 inches long, usually ciliate on margins; leaf sheaths retrorsely pilose; spikelets ovate to oblong, 0.07-0.09 inch (1.7-2.3 mm) long. Flowers April-September including spring and fall phases.

Plant community type: Wooded uplands and bottomlands.
