Characteristics: Native, perennial, warm season, usually herbaceous vine climbing to 13.0 feet. Leaves alternate, simple, variously shaped; fruit borne in grapelike clusters, spherical, brilliant red at maturity, ripens September-October. Flowers July-October.

Plant community type: Uplands and bottomlands, tending to occur more frequently in open areas and along wooded edges.
