(Calf Chute)

Calf tables allow the beef producer to work calves through a chute system and to physically restrain the calves in a safe manner for both the animal and the handler. Most calf chutes have the ability to roll the calf on its side while in the chute. This gives easy access for castrating, branding, dehorning or medicating the animal. It is an efficient method of working a group of calves in a timely manner. Although it is not the old-fashioned method of roping and dragging the calves to the work area, which can be faster if an experienced crew is used, calf tables have an advantage of requiring no roping or horseback riding skills.
