Fertilizer spreader
(Buggy Spreader, Fertilizer Buggy)

This implement is used for spreading granular fertilizer and sometimes ag lime. There are many variations including two- or four-wheel models, single or double spinners, pull-type or truck-mounted and ground- or PTO-driven. Capacity and width of spread vary from one model to the next. Models for spreading lime have steeper sides, heavier chains and are capable of applying more pounds per acre.

Seed is sometimes added to the fertilizer for broadcast planting, such as with winter pasture or seeded bermudagrass.

This picture is of a ground-driven buggy with double spinners. Capacity is about 5 tons and spread is about 45 feet.

Usually, these can be used for free with the purchase of fertilizer from your local ag supplier, but sometimes there is a small rental fee.
