Alkire serves as a livestock consultant in the Agricultural Division's consultation program. He began at the Noble Foundation in 2007 after completing his Ph.D. in animal science. In addition to working with regional farmers and agricultural producers, he is conducting beef cattle nutrition research that directly affects producers in southern Oklahoma and North Texas. Alkire is building on his graduate research, which focused on supplementing low-quality forage with by-product feedstuffs as well as fat supplementation in concentrate rations.

Alkire is a member of the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS).

Alkire grew up on a diversified farm near Warrensburg, Mo., southeast of Kansas City.
