Do you remember all of the thistles last spring and summer? Now is the time to scout and control them. They can be easily controlled this time of the year when they are in the rosette stage (before they put up a stalk) with a treatment of 2,4-D or glyphosate. Be sure to read and follow label directions.

Attention Oklahoma Cooperators
The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture has issued a Crisis Exemption that authorizes the use of Prowl H2O (pendimethalin) for use from March 24, 2008 until April 8, 2008 as a pre-emergent herbicide for sandbur control in bermudagrass grown for forage, hay and grazing in Oklahoma. Prowl H2O is manufactured by BASF. Be sure to read and follow label directions.

Attention Texas Cooperators
The Texas Department of Agriculture has issued a Crisis Exemption that authorizes the use of Prowl H2O (pendimethalin) as a pre-emergent herbicide for sandbur control in bermudagrass pastures and hay fields in Texas. Prowl H2O is manufactured by BASF. Be sure to read and follow label directions.

Effects of Limit Grazing on Animal Performance by Chuck Coffey and Devlon Ford
6 ratings:
Forage availability is frequently a limiting factor during the fall in winter annual grazing systems. Limit grazing has the potential to stretch limited, high quality forage resources further without depressing animal performance.

Sulfur Fertilizer - It Depends by Jim Johnson
In a time of record high fertilizer and commodity prices, should you apply sulfur (S) fertilizer? Well, an economist would say, "It depends." As an agronomist, I would have to agree with them. Some critical factors for applying S fertilizer are S soil test level, soil type, yield goal for the crop, amount of nitrogen fertilizer being applied and the amount of S obtained from rain, irrigation and other sources.

Plan Your Breeding Season to Achieve Greater Profitability by Robert Wells
9 ratings:
